33rd Street Band

33rd Street Band is a 7-piece horn band with a huge sound that has been performing blues, soul, motown, and classic rock since 2003. They are based in Kalamazoo. Big Boss Band

Hailing from West Michigan (Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo & Battle Creek) these four men have passion for rhythm and blues music that transports their listeners to some steamy club, where the smoke is blue, the atmosphere is alive and the music is gut-wrenchingly powerful. With nearly a century of blues and rock performance history, these musicians pay tribute to the steady rollin’ “IN THE POCKET” sound made famous by the blues greats; Freddie King, Albert King, Howlin’ Wolf and Little Walter.

Big Trouble

Big Trouble is a five piece band that specializes in, “up on your feet”, Classic Blues, R&B, Rock & Soul and originals. The Blues Shed

The Blues Shed sound is informed by keyboardist Michael Mestelle’s encyclopedic knowledge of the blues, driven by Nathan Moore’s energizing, uplifting vocals, and grounded by the rhythmic foundation of drummer Cara LaLumia and bass player Mike Walter. Then Tim Conway and Joe Ehlert and put the exclamation mark on the sentence with scratchy blues guitar and melodic warbling sax.

Bryan Michael Fischer (BMF) Band began in late 2009 and represents the culmination of all Bryan’s experiences; rock, blues, soul, R&B. Chris Canas Blues Revolution

This 5 piece band normally is found playing in venues in the south-central and south-eastern part of Michigan, but, happily they do make their way over to Kalamazoo from time to time — we’re always glad to see them. Crossroads – The Resurrection

This band features Dave “Gator” Allemang – Guitar, vocals; Ed “Eddie Blue” Lester – Sax, vocals, percussion; “Slick” Nick Cekola – Bass; John “Fingers” Ford, Keyboards; and Jeff “Fuego” Fernandez – Drums, percussion, vocals. Crossroads has performed at the Kalamazoo Blues Festival and was sent to the International Blues Competition in Memphis after selection by The Detroit Blues Society competition. Duffield/Caron Project

Tom Duffield and Lorraine Caron have been stirrin’ up the blues in Kalamazoo at the Kalamazoo Blues Festival, the KVBA acoustic shows at the museum, and also most recently they have running gigs at The Old Dog Tavern, The Strutt and Koffee Klutch. Their latest CD is aptly named Coffee Blues.

Blues with a healthy dose of rock-n-roll are served up by the longtime Lansing bar-scene icon: Frog and the Beeftones.
