Kalamazoo Blues Festival – Nice Job!
The 20th Annual Kalamazoo Blues Festival is now in the books… Pictures are still being compiled – but there are a ton available to peek at on the Kalamazoo Blues Festival Facebook page. For the first time in a number of years the weather was perfect and many took the opportunity to come out to Arcadia Festival Site to catch some of the very best music on the planet (my opinion!).
It takes a huge number of hours to plan, organize, staff, book, coordinate, market, budget, and fund-raise so that this festival can happen. What a labor of love it is for us…and the payoff is a festival site full of happy faces with heads and feet bobbing in time to the music.
Many hands make light work. Thank you volunteers, biography writers, picture takers, poster hangers, ticket sellers, web site makers, security, sound engineers, lighting technicians, food and beverage vendors, and my fellow board members.
I would ask that you all take a real hard look at the sponsors that support your blues festival. I would ask that you support them because they do contribute a ton to this endeavor and, without them, the quality of the this blues festival would be diminished or it would become quite expensive to attend.
Special shout outs: Joan Davis from The 411 Club and Megan Grimm – 2013 Boogie Woogie Bob Peters Memorial Scholarship recipient.
Finally, big love to ALL of the wonderful blues musicians from all over who collaborated on the festival stages to make the 20th such a memorable experience — y’all done really, really good!
